Over 1.000.000 views!

Today, my site crossed the 1 million views mark 🙂 I’m just looking at this huge number and thinking… How?! To celebrate, I will highlight some things from the journey in this small blog post.

How did it all start?

I was a guest on the PowerShell Podcast a few weeks ago, and Andrew asked me, “How long have you been writing blogs on your site?” Uhmm, about three years? Something like that? I actually started in April 2022, with small posts and just a few views each month. So, actually, I’ve been doing this for almost four years! But at the end of 2022, I averaged ˜9K views each month, so I was doing something worth reading for a lot of people 😀

The reason I started writing blog posts, sharing insights, scripts, and learning new things along the way myself, was to share my passion for writing things that actually help people learning PowerShell and make their work easier. I always learned so much from other people’s blogs, YouTube videos, etc. Just Googling for things, seeing people share so many details that really helped me. It just made sense doing the same, giving back, and… Sharing is caring 🙂

Community

And that’s what it’s all about, without PowerShell and putting yourself out there… I wouldn’t have made so many friends, gone to events, or even presented at events… The amount of energy I get from that, seeing people nerding out about the thing they all share: The love for PowerShell and just getting things done with that.

If you want to join some Community events, I highly recommend attending PSConfEU and Meetup events. There are so many being hosted by companies and groups, and probably in your local region as well! And if you live in the Netherlands, join one of our DupSUG (Dutch PowerShell User Group) events here! (Or virtual from anywhere)

Microsoft MVP PowerShell

And blogging surely helped me become a Microsoft MVP, too! Being in the MVP program is great, more information on upcoming PowerShell things, meeting the people behind it, going to the MVP Summit… It still is special! Each year, I can show the committee how much community interaction comes from you all reading and sharing what I write, which really helps a lot! Can’t thank you enough for that!

Sponsors

I’m so fortunate to have a website sponsor, so much better than Google Ads… Wrote a blog post about that here, but thanks again, PDQ, for sponsoring me and ScriptRunner for sponsoring me before that!

Wrapping up

That’s it, another milestone reached, and all because of you all! Thanks again for being here and on the PowerShell journey. Have a lovely weekend!

  1. Congratulation Harm. That is very impressive. Only blogging for 3-4 years and already have that many views and visitors are because you are sharing valuable stuff that makes people like me come back for more.
    Keep up the good work..
